“If you put off everything till you’re sure of it, you’ll never get anything done.”

What is Procrastination?

Procrastination is the act of holding up or putting off the work and doing pleasurable things, or delaying impending tasks to a later time.

It can ultimately lead to feelings of depression, anxiety, inadequacy and self-doubt.

Pomodoro Technique:

Pomodoro Technique

Pomodoro Technique, the acclaimed time-management system that has transformed how we work, was developed by Francesco Cirillo in the late 1980s. This method is helping everyone in staying focused and mentally fresh, and doing urgent & important tasks timely.

  • Steps in Pomodoro Technique

There are generally following six steps in this technique:

  1. To decide the task to be done
  2. To set the Pomodoro timer for 25 minutes
  3. To work on the task and record progress
  4. To take a short break of ~3–5 minutes
  5. To go back to the work
  6. After four Pomodoro, To take a longer break of ~15–30 minutes and Repeat all above steps

Eat that Frog with a Pomodoro-Amal Project

At Amal, I was assigned with a project work to do a task implementing Pomodoro technique. Though I worked accordingly many times in my life but not exactly in the same manner as of the Pomodoro technique.

So, I practiced this technique while completing my Online Amal Course where I noticed marked improvements in my work ethic.

This Technique helped me a lot:

  • To concentrate on my tasks without any disturbance and distraction
  • To be consistent throughout my work
  • To manage and control my time in efficient manner
  • To be motivated and fresh due to number of breaks
  • To complete the course timely and effectively

I will definitely apply this technique in doing my daily routine tasks to better improve and strengthen my time management, planning and fighting procrastination skills.

“You may delay, but time will not, and lost time is never found again.”
